Carolina Winter League, Day 2: Four-Way Tie in Charlotte

Three weeks after a rainy Carolina Winter League opener, we got a very different day in Charlotte: mostly cloudy and in the 70s. The CLT club provided snacks and water, and teams brought chairs and set up camp between games.

The whole group!

CLT had a folding table loaded with oranges, pretzels, and homemade dishes before the first game, and by the end, the sideline looked like a small campground.

Stu diligently entering scores and calculating rankings on the sideline.

Results

The Golden Ghouls and Good Luck With That! both lost their only Day 1 game, and both went 2–0 here. Purple Reign, the Day 1 leaders, dropped both games, including a one-goal loss to Good Luck With That!. Southeast of Heaven edged impresso 9–8.

After two days, four teams were tied at 4 points: Southeast of Heaven, The Golden Ghouls, Good Luck With That!, and Purple Reign. impresso sat right behind at 3, with LOCTITE still looking for its first win.

The Ghouls’ passing looked noticeably sharper than in February, and a couple of their goals came off three-touch plays.

Thank you to CLT for hosting, and to everyone who showed up in the cold and wet to play, ref, keep score, and cheer. Next stop: Travelers Rest.
