July – Bike Polo Bicycle Control

In July, as a club, we are focusing on riding smoothly, staying balanced in tight spaces, and using the bike itself as a tool on the court.

Why Bike Control Matters

Bike control matters because it's the foundation everything else builds on. A player who's steady on the bike, comfortable turning tightly, and confident holding their line in traffic has more attention left over for the ball, the pass, and the play developing around them. This month is about building that steadiness so it becomes second nature.

Foundation Focus for July

This month is about steady, observable habits:

  1. Riding smoothly and under control

  2. Maintaining balance in tight spaces

  3. Managing speed safely around others

  4. Staying upright during contact

  5. Turning efficiently and tightly

  6. Using bike to create space

Bingo Cards

This bingo card is meant to provide structure. It highlights the habits and skills we are highlighting this month. You will likely fill in many squares naturally simply by showing up to pick up and playing bike polo.

What “Success” Looks Like

Success in July doesn't necessarily mean winning games or scoring goals. It can mean:

  • Holding a trackstand a little longer than last time

  • Turning tighter without touching a foot down

  • Staying balanced through contact instead of bracing against it

  • Feeling more at home on the bike than you did last month

Come play with us at Gateway Park in Travelers Rest on Tuesday evenings and Saturday afternoons, or at Malvern Hills Park in Asheville on Sunday afternoons. Try a drill, fill in a BINGO square or two, or simply enjoy the company. Everyone's welcome.
