April – Bike Polo Conditioning

In April, as a club, we are focusing on playing hard from start to finish, pacing ourselves smartly, and taking care of our bodies along the way.

Why Conditioning Matters

Conditioning matters because effort tends to fade before skill does. A player who can maintain focus and hustle through a full game, and through a full session of games, gives their team something steady to rely on. This month is about building stamina without burning out, and paying attention to what your body needs to keep showing up.

Fitness Focus for April

This month is about steady, observable habits:

  1. Playing hard from start to finish

  2. Hustling on defense and recovery

  3. Maintaining effort even when tired

  4. Focusing on endurance and pacing

  5. Taking care of the body

  6. Pushing without burning out

Bingo Cards

This bingo card provides structure. It highlights the habits and skills we're focusing on this month. You will likely fill in many squares naturally simply by showing up to pick up, and playing bike polo.

What "Success" Looks Like

Success in April doesn't necessarily mean winning games or scoring goals. It can mean:

  • Finishing a game with the same effort you started with

  • Recognizing when you need a breather and taking it

  • Recovering a little faster between sprints

  • Feeling steadier by the end of a session than you expected

Come play with us at Gateway Park in Travelers Rest on Tuesday evenings and Saturday afternoons, or at Malvern Hills Park in Asheville on Sunday afternoons. Try a drill, fill in a BINGO square or two, or simply enjoy the company. Everyone's welcome.
